Some evenings are as elegant as a perfectly aged vintage. In March 2025, in the jewel-box setting of Beaverbrook Town House in London, Louis Roederer hosted a supper where Champagne and the refined Japanese craftsmanship of Fuji Grill were combined for Condé Nast Traveller readers.
Guests were welcomed by the Beaverbrook team and led to the bar for a Louis Roederer Collection 242 MV, a multi-vintage cuvée that set the tone for the evening. With glasses in hand, they were ushered to their tables. There, Louis Roederer’s Export Manager, Alexis Deligny, introduced each course, guiding them through the intricate layers of every vintage.
The evening began with the Brut Nature Rosé 2015 as guests sipped on notes of Etna blood orange, blackcurrant, and a hint of camphor spice. This powdery-textured rosé was the perfect match for the first plate: tender bamboo shoots drizzled in Sancho Honey soy.
Then came the house’s crown jewel: Cristal 2015. Bright, golden, and refined, its bouquet of white flowers, roasted citrus, and mirabelle plum were matched with hispi cabbage in truffle and seabass fish curry with fried rice. The Champagne’s crisp minerality complimented the dish’s richness.
As the evening deepened, the Brut Vintage 2016 took its turn in the spotlight, poured alongside an aged ribeye and aubergine in Sunimono dressing. The brioche, citrus tension, and oyster shell notes stood in perfect harmony with the steak’s marbled intensity.
Between courses, conversations drifted to tales of Champagne’s most storied maison, as Deligny shared insights into Roederer’s vintages and vineyard secrets. A toast completed the night’s magic.
