13 of the best Airbnbs in Brighton

There are several reasons why booking a Brighton Airbnb makes for a lovely UK staycation. Think atmospheric Victorian townhouses given a new lease of life, sun-splashed apartment terraces with outdoor hot tubs, and plenty of delightful sea views. The city is synonymous with fresh fish and chips and heartwarming LGBTQ+ parades, and with train journeys from London just short of ninety minutes, it’s easy to blitz through your Brighton bucket list.
After a packed day of soaking up beachy vibes, you’ll need a good base to return to, and while there are plenty of stylish hotels in Brighton, a homestay is the prime choice for comfort, size, and affordability. Like the city itself, these Airbnbs are big enough to feel like an exciting treat, but small enough to feel like a cosy home. Below, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite tried and tested Airbnbs in Brighton, as well as a selection of top picks which we like the look of for future trips.

The Chapel Townhouse
Hidden down a quiet mews off one of Brighton's busiest streets, a large heavy door opens onto a grand wooden staircase, polished and worn with age. Despite the fact the walls and the door are painted in the deepest darkest charcoal grey, the space surprisingly doesn't feel dark. Light beams down from a window out of view, giving a sense of church-like serenity. In the bedroom, the 15ft ceiling is arched like a small Puritan church, while the dark walls make it seem like the tar painted barrel of a boat. In the dark space, the bed sheets on the large Victorian-style bed glow dove-white. The effect is gothic, but totally romantic at the same time. At the furthest side of the room, a clawfoot bathtub sits under a floor-to-ceiling stained glass window. Having a bath below the open stained glass window, looking up at blue sky, with bustling street below, is quite an experience.

The HydeAway
Even more delightful in real life than in pictures, the HydeAway is a charming two bed flat with kitchenette, walk in shower and spacious balcony. The apartment has all of the authentic charm of a traditional property, complete with rickety staircases, sash windows and original wooden floors, but has been given a contemporary upgrade. Expect a palette of dusty pinks, yellow ochre and charcoal grey beautifully put together and offset with mood lighting. The HydeAway’s owner’s attention to detail goes beyond the decor though; you’ll find everything you need here, from delicious shower products and well stocked kitchen to a few other treats we’ll leave as a surprise. Although this gives you very little reason to go out at all, its location on one of the busiest streets in the lanes means you’ll be within a ten minute walk from most of the city’s attractions. The apartment resides above the Flour Pot Bakery where guests can enjoy discounted prices; a perk we couldn’t get enough of. Nothing says ‘well looked after’ like Brighton’s best coffee and pastries delivered to your door.

This Regency-era townhouse has bags of space by Brighton standards – there are four bedrooms, a massive living-room-meets-dining-area (the table has space for eight) and a kitchen with a shady balcony. Bedrooms might be cherry red or lemon yellow; one has a freestanding tub, another a four-poster bed. If you’re looking for somewhere family-friendly, there’s a small children’s room with a crib for little beachcombers. Best of all, it’s set above the windy North Laine, which is stuffed with vintage stores, gelato spots and antique treasure vaults, and is near to the seafront.

Vibrant apartment with steam room
Victorian grandeur meets eccentric design in this restored townhouse apartment, suitably placed in Brighton’s most bohemian neighbourhood. Welcomed by doughy wafts from the artisan bakery next door, this home is full of little gems to discover – the graffitied Mona Lisa is our personal favourite – and each room follows its own bold colour scheme, from the burnt orange kitchen to the neon blue bathroom. A palpable sense of nostalgia also pervades through the spaces, with a timeless wooden rocking chair beside the rustic fireplace, and vintage quilts on the super king-size bed. But this Airbnb isn’t just a pretty sight, and the spacious steam room and jacuzzi-style bath offer spa experiences within the comfort of the home. The Airbnb hosts are worth a mention too, with thoughtful touches like the fresh milk in the fridge and complimentary premium toiletries displaying how they truly go the extra mile for their guests.

Five-bedroom pool villa on the outskirts
The perfect family reunion trip is hard to find, and even harder to organise, but this Airbnb captures the exotic vibe of overseas destinations with all the convenience of a staycation. Pictures don’t do the stunning pool terrace justice, particularly when under the soft glow of fairy lights entwined in palm-like trees, and amenities like the shady day beds, garden bar, and jacuzzi emulate a boutique hotel retreat. Step inside and the five-star facilities continue. There’s a well-stocked gym with both strength and cardio equipment and a cinema room for cosy nights in. Each plush bedroom provides plenty of space and privacy for all, ranging from bunkbeds to king-size, while gleaming chandeliers and glossy marble surfaces are found across all living spaces. We love the optional private chef service too, served alongside Champagne from the lavish, wall-size wine fridge.

Price: From around £1,300 per night, with a two-night minimumMarina penthouse with jacuzzi
A peaceful sanctuary suspended above the harbour, this top-floor condo has a huge panoramic terrace encircled by glass balustrades, and with a stylish jacuzzi at its centre, guests can take in the yacht-studded harbour while submerged in rejuvenative bubbles. Inside, the sleek kitchen has all the essentials, plus extras like a wine fridge, coffee machine, and dishwasher, and the dining options are just as abundant. Choose between bar stools at the kitchen island, the small oak table beside, or the cushioned garden set on the terrace. Bedrooms are unfussy yet elegant, letting the turquoise sea views through floor-to-ceiling windows take centre stage.

Seafront home near the pier
Palace Pier is undoubtedly the crown jewel in Brighton’s pebbly coastline, and few Airbnbs are better placed to reach the sweeping landmark than this sophisticated home. At the foot of the lounge, the arresting sight of the Victorian pier spills through three wide windows, which open onto graceful Juliette balconies for letting the salty breeze seep through too. Interiors here are mostly whitewashed, save for the deep blue sofa nodding to its seaside surroundings, and details like the bejewelled chandelier and classic pillared doorframe envelope guests in a regal atmosphere. In true townhouse style, traditional fireplaces are found in all three bedrooms, as well as velvety bedspreads and plenty of wardrobe space.

Smart apartment in The Lanes
You visit Brighton for a chance to be immersed in the city’s unique Bohemian flavour, for trips to the beach, and to peer through the windows of a jumble of independent boutiques. That couldn’t be easier here. You’re right in the heart of the action, smack bang in the centre of the lanes, with the station just a five-minute walk and a short hop to the famous pavilion. The interiors make full use of their prestigious spot – you’re four floors up, so the full-length windows in the (huge) drawing room showcase stunning rooftop views over the whole city.

Yes, this beautifully kept Regency apartment has impressive high ceilings, characterful interiors, a soft and cosy bed, and a well-stocked kitchenette. And yes, there are some of Brighton's best restaurants, cafes, and bars just steps away from your door. But you book a stay here because of the views; a panoramic stretch over the sea reaching from the marina in the east over to the iconic Palace Pier and through to the well-photographed remains of the West Pier. Make sure to be home for sunset one evening – it’ll be well worth it.

Price: From around £200 per night, with a three-night minimumPastel-hued studio in Hove
Small but perfectly formed, this mini studio is decked out in sugar-sweet tones with liberal splashes of pink. While decidedly bijou, there’s everything you need for a weekend break – a comfy double bed, a smart shower room, and a kitchen with tea and coffee facilities. You’re completely equidistant between Brighton and Hove, and thus well-placed to tick off all the sights within walking distance.
Sleeps: Two
Price: From around £100 per night, with a four-night minimumThe Hollywood Apartment in Kemptown
A classic period building on the old-school seafront, this Airbnb draws your attention first and foremost to the uninterrupted sea views from the floor-to-ceiling sash windows. This being Brighton, interiors are anything but muted – a pastel-pink kitchen pops against deep-blue panelling and there’s a pistachio bathroom, a golden chandelier in the living room and palm-print fabrics in the bedroom. The whole effect created by host Jonathan is a bit silly and playful – which, luckily, is exactly what some people want from a weekend in this city.

Quirky flat in Kemptown
Sky-high ceilings are commonplace in Brighton’s gorgeous period properties. This flat in Kemptown, just footsteps from the seafront, makes use of its absurdly tall walls, with full-height windows bouncing light around the whitewashed open-plan living room. Things are kept fairly minimal by host Vikki, but there are some quirky details that remind you of your location: a cool mid-century armchair, vinyl player and Pop Art posters are sweet curated touches. We especially like the little sun-soaked balcony, perfect for pre-supper drinks overlooking Brighton’s busy streets.
