Comfy, layered, security-friendly and stylish: the best loungewear brands are having a moment. Gone are the days when cosy equated to frumpy. Slouchy joggers, sharp sweatshirts, leggings and hoodies are now de rigueur in the business class lounge and economy cabin alike. Traveller writers and editors have learned that a smart yet comfortable loungewear set is the go-to for surviving red-eyes, prioritising cashmere co-ords and silky soft, thermoregulating bamboo to create a chic, elevated set you won't feel sheepish to wear out of the house. Below, we’ve curated the definitive guide to the best loungewear brands to know in 2026, so your next flight will be the most comfortable yet – without compromising on style.

Varley
It’s the fabrics that Varley uses that makes its separates so supremely comfortable, and despite initially investing in a few of its sportswear separates for a wellness escape in Ibiza, it’s become one of my most revisited brands at home, too. Now, I wear its oversized sweatshirts on travel days, when working from home and on route to the gym. The simplistic silhouettes are easy to style (read: you don’t need to do much to make them look good) and if you’re partial to a print, the leggings are a fun way to amplify your off-duty wardrobe. Cos
Known for its minimalist aesthetic and understated cuts, Cos stands out as one of the cooler high street fashion brands offering clothes at a pleasing price point. It has a strong year-round loungewear offering, including a lovely selection of cashmere pieces that wouldn’t look out of place in the office, let alone in an aeroplane cabin.
Johnston's of Elgin
Scottish family-run company, Johnston's of Elgin, is a fashion editor favourite and a standout choice for best-in-class cashmere clothing. The brand epitomises quiet luxury – cuts are understated, casual and oversized, but the details, fabrics, and unbeatable softness elevates every outfit into something special.
Asceno
Everyone at Traveller rejoiced when pyjama-inspired fashion entered the scene. We’ve always wanted to wear our cosiest nightwear on a flight (especially those we’d like to try and sleep on), and now it’s not only socially acceptable, but actively stylish. Asceno is unbeatable on this front – Its signature Aurelia trousers and London shirt are made from 95 per cent lambswool and five per cent UK-sourced cashmere, for a look that’s as easygoing as it is effortlessly chic.
Alo Yoga
If you love the slouchy style of the Adanola tracksuits but you want something less sporty, more elegant, Alo Yoga is the best loungewear brand for you. There’s a reason the style set is regularly spotted kitted out in this US activewear brand. They’re known for creating quality, fashion-forward pieces that take the likes of Gigi Hadid, Taylor Swift, Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber seamlessly from pilates class to brunch. Although some of these sets are loose-fitting, with comfort and freedom of movement at the forefront of the designs, others are more body-sculpting, if you prefer a form-hugging look.
Adanola
Sportswear brands are the easy win when it comes to loungewear and Adanola treads the line between style and functionality especially well. Instead of choosing the boldly labelled sweatshirts and socks that have become the brand’s signature, choose more subtle pieces like the leg-lengthening wrap-over yoga pants in black, or the light-grey knitted two-piece. The latter combines to make for a polished yet easy look that’s as soft as sleepwear but worthy of a Business class plane seat. Sarah Bannerman
Adidas Originals
Adidas Originals has made a fashion comeback of late. Despite launching almost 30 years ago, it was the 2024 collaboration with Wales Bonner that secured its spot as fashion brand first, sportswear choice second. Simply stroll the streets of London and you’d be hard-pushed not to spot a pair of suede Sambas or a track jacket worn ironically (consciously or not) in a nod to the 90s. We’ll call that one the Oasis effect. I’ll admit it took me a minute to jump onboard with the return of the three-stripe trackpant, but styled with a chunky knit and a leather jacket, the burgundy pair has quickly become my airport-to-city go-to. Lululemon
Lululemon’s leggings remain the gold standard for flights – multiple Traveller editors rave about their buttery-soft finish, elevated design, gentle compression and squat proof waistbands that looks as at home in the yoga studio as in a business class airport lounge. Its loungewear brings all the same technical precision, flattering fits and quality materials in a cosier, snugglier form.
Pangaia
We previously tested a jacket from Pangaia that used flowers as down – the brand is an industry leader in innovative sustainable practices. Its loungewear is no exception, banishing manmade materials in favour of a 50/50 split of organic and recycled heavyweight cotton, which is both casual enough for the sofa and cool enough to wear into town. You can even get a set for the whole family, as Pangaia makes their colour-popping separates for women, men and children.
Chelsea Peers
Well-loved London B Corp Chelsea Peers is best known for its eclectic patterned pyjamas, but its loungewear is equally lovely. Its latest range has been crafted from the brand’s signature silky soft scuba fabric, which is crease-resistant and luxuriously heavy – like wearing a very cosy hug. Our digital director Sarah Allard is a fan: “I’ve been hurrying home to change into my new loungewear,” she says. “The fabric is so soft and super comfy – perfect for cosy nights on the sofa and redeyes alike.”
Sporty & Rich
Canadian founder Emily Oberg used to work in magazines, so she’s always had an eye for style. She founded Athleisure-luxe label Sporty & Rich in 2015, more as a creative outlet than a genuine business idea, but the brand’s vintage-leaning all-American sensibilities soon garnered a following, and now it’s a beloved staple for discerning types, made with a triple-threat of nostalgic cuts, vibrant colours and quality, sustainable materials.
Vuori
Californian fashion is synonymous with laid-back chic and Vuori brings that relaxed West Coast feel to its extensive range of active pieces and loungewear with its thoughtful, minimalist designs crafted with sustainability in mind. The brand requires all suppliers to sign and uphold a code of conduct covering labour, working conditions and environmental practices, while prioritising ethically grown cotton. I have multiple Vuori pieces – from leggings to joggers to t-shirts, and not one has bobbled, lost its shape or faded after two-plus years of washes – and I’ve worn them on flights everywhere from Saint-Tropez to India to Finland.
