1. Indulge in a Great Christmas Feast
You’d be forgiven for thinking that, by now, any new retellings of Dickens’ Christmas Carol would be as lifeless as Jacob Marley himself. But the Great Christmas Feast, helmed by acclaimed director Simon Pittman of the Royal Shakespeare Company and The National Theatre, turns this notion delightfully on its head. This genuinely innovative interpretation invites you into Charles Dickens’ home for an impeccable one-man performance from star Alex Phelps, set to a live orchestral soundtrack. A Victorian cocktail list keeps you firmly in the Christmas spirit, topped off with an opulent roast duck dinner, devised by executive chef Ashley Clarke of the Gordon Ramsay Group and Temper Soho, which is whisked out promptly between acts. It is an emotive and impressive feat which – as my friend mused upon leaving – you simply don’t get from The Muppets. Charley Ward

Harness up with the team's help and begin the ascent over the white dome, pausing at intervals to spot some of the capital’s landmarks. Tuck into a gingerbread cookie and sip on a glass of bubbly at the top while taking in 360-degree views of the surrounding tower blocks and monuments beyond. Warm up in the snow globe, with glittering Christmas trees, fairy lights and snow, where the team will happily take pictures to capture the moment.
